Production planning and detailed scheduling
In summary, extensions concerning the new subsystems are described in the following paragraphs.
Products and BOMs
Item phase routings
- It is now possible to specify the “Lot size - fixed quantity” used by production planning to determine the planned order quantity. This capability concerns cases where the fixed lot size varies per phase routing, because, for example, a machine may produce at a different rate than another, or a cauldron may have different capacity than another.
In order for planning to take into account the “Lot size - fixed quantity” of the phase routing, “Lot size parameters” should be specified in the item planning parameters and a “Specify lot size quantity” must be selected based on the phase routing.
Production planning
Specifying item security stock using parameters
Is is not possible, through the plan parameters, to determine the planning stocks per branch. In the grid, “Data collection of plan entry types” is specified for entry type “Security stock” and for the planning site, view “Item security stock” is specified. The selectable view must be found in area "ESFilters\ESPPProductionPlanEntriesDataCollection\SafetyStock", or the relevant custom area.
Specify lot size
Planning, when it comes to specifying the planned order quantity, takes into account the item planning parameters. If the “Lot size parameters” have been specified, it shall take into account parameter “Specity lot size quantity” to determine the planned order quantity.
Activating the check for lot time range
It is now possible to determine the time range of a lot. More specifically, if "time range" is enabled in the lot size parameters of the item, then during the planning execution a check runs and when a planned order exceeds the specified time range, then an "end" action is created for the remaining quantity, to reduce the available item stock.
Scenario description:
External demand, deriving from the Sales pipeline, is reflected in final (packaged) products. This demand will be met through packaging semi-finished products (bulk), based on the ratio described in the relevant BOMs.
Semi-finished products are produced in fixed lot quantities, determined by the capacity of the respective means of production. Since the required quantity of finished products is extremely unlikely to create a secondary demand for semi-finished products in a quantity that is an integral multiple of the fixed production quantity, there will necessarily be a surplus of semi-finished products which cannot be stored. Due to the nature of a semi-finished product, the only feasible solution to exploit the excess is packaging in no more than 24 hours, from the moment of its production completion. It is beneficial that the packaging be made to final (packaged) product codes, which can use the semi-finished product per BOM, in principle with the ratio that can be determined by the reproduction limits of these final products.
Detailed scheduling - Scheduler
Modern Scheduling UI/UX
It is now possible was given to undo and redo the Planner’s last action, using the corresponding buttons of the scheduler’s toolbar.
The Scheduler theme was adapted with a new flat design, to make it more modern and easier to use for the Planner.
Recover Scheduler data
It is now possible to restore the Scheduler’s last changes. During the configuration of the production plan by the production manager, the plan changes are stored in temporary tables, until saved by the manager. If an unexpected event occurs before saving the changes, in the next recovery the Scheduler will “understand” that there was a plan configuration in progress and ask the manager if they want to continue where they stopped.
